Meditation classes are conducted in every Brahma Kumaris centre throughout Malaysia. The basic course has 7 lessons, conducted for an hour each day and generally starts every Monday at 7.30pm. You can walk in for the classes or make an appointment before attending the classes.

If you are unable to attend face to face classes due to the location of the centres, you may also attend FREE online sessions.

Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) along with its international affiliates is a religious organization guided by the fundamental spiritual beliefs found at the heart of most religions, under the mentorship of a living spiritual teacher.

In the Indian language, Radha Soami means ‘lord of the soul’, satsang describes a group that seeks truth, and Beas refers to the town near which the main centre is located in northern India. There are a number of other contemporary movements that use the name ‘Radha Soami’ but Radha Soami Satsang Beas is not associated with any of them.

RSSB was established in India in 1891 and gradually began spreading to other countries. Today RSSB holds meetings in more than 90 countries worldwide. It is a non-profit organization with no affiliation to any political or commercial organizations.

The basis of every religion is spirituality. With the passage of time and changing social values, the basic spiritual teachings often become embellished with extra rules and rituals, and eventually take the shape of a formal religion. Despite its extensive outreach activities, RSSB tries to maintain the integrity of its spiritual core and preserve the simplicity of its teachings. At the heart of the RSSB teachings is a belief that there is a spiritual purpose to human life – to experience the divinity of God who resides in all of us. It is through this experience that we will realize the truth of the concept that there is only one God and we are all expressions of his love.

Central to the RSSB teachings is a spiritual teacher who explains the purpose of life and guides and instructs members in a method of spirituality based on a daily meditation practice. The present teacher is Baba Gurinder Singh, who lives with his family at the main centre in northern India.

By performing the meditation practice according to the teacher's instructions, individuals can realize the presence of God within themselves. It is a solitary practice that is done in the quiet of one's own home. Members commit themselves to a way of life that supports spiritual growth while carrying out their responsibilities to family, friends and society. There are no rituals, ceremonies, hierarchies or mandatory contributions, nor are there compulsory gatherings. Members need not give up their cultural identity or religious preference to follow this path.

To build on the primary spiritual practice of meditation, members are vegetarian, abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs, and are expected to lead a life of high moral values. A vegetarian diet encourages respect and empathy for all life and acknowledges that there is a debt to be paid for taking any life unnecessarily. Abstaining from intoxicants improves ones ability to concentrate and calms the mind during meditation. Members are encouraged to be self-supporting and not be a burden on society. They are free to make their own choices in life and maintain any cultural or religious affiliations they choose. RSSB does not involve itself in the personal lives of its members.

Inherent to the Society’s philosophy is the importance of seva, meaning selfless service, or voluntarism. Voluntary service is the backbone of all activities connected with RSSB. All administrative functions, construction of Indian and international centres, feeding of the hundreds of thousands of visitors who visit the headquarters in India, writing and translating books and magazines explaining the teachings, are done by members on a voluntary basis. Mahatma Gandhi embodied the importance of service in his statement: “The best way to find your self is to lose yourself in the service of others.” It is believed that through service, one loses one’s sense of self-importance and becomes humble. That is the foundation of a spiritual life.

Meditation is becoming more and more popular to manage stress, but the true experience of transcending has a far more profound effect than just relaxation. Unfortunately, the knowledge of how to easily transcend had been lost to the world until recently. The ancient texts from the oldest tradition of knowledge describe transcending as the highest human experience, essential for our full human development. Today we can confirm this through modern science, by measuring what happens in the body and the brain during the practice of Transcendental Meditation:


1. A profound state of rest: much deeper than ordinary relaxation, even deeper than sleep.


2. Inner peace and happiness: significant decrease of stress hormones and increase of happiness hormones


All these together make the TM practice so effective for all areas of life.


When the mind transcends the finest impulse of thought, it comes into a state of complete inner silence. This happens in a completely natural and effortless way. We can’t try to make the mind silent, nor do we have to. With the right technique the mind will go there by itself. When the mind transcends, the body spontaneously comes into a very deep state of relaxation as well, far deeper than sleep.


This can be objectively measured by monitoring oxygen consumption.Ref.,Ref. This graph, from a Harvard Medical School research study, shows that during TM, the body comes into a state of rest that is twice as deep as even the deepest rest during sleep. More than 30 studies around the world have confirmed the deep rest during TM practice.


This deep rest activates the inner healing power in our own bodies.

Relaxation means relaxing tensions. The body has a completely natural way to remove all the tensions it accumulates. This is what we do during sleep, but the rest during sleep doesn’t go deep enough to remove the deeply rooted traumatic stresses. Transcending will do exactly that.

The results are most obvious with those who need it most. A recent study with Iraq war veterans showed a 50% reduction in PTSD and depression after only 8 weeks of TM practice.Ref. The results were so spectacular that CNN did a feature on it on US Veteran’s Day. (Watch the CNN video.)

This was just another confirmation of earlier research with Vietnam war veterans that was done 25 years ago.

In this study the TM group saw such significant reductions (in PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc.) that after only 3 months of practice, 70% of the war veterans required no further treatment. The control group that received standard psychotherapy showed no improvement.Ref.

These people have problems that go far deeper than ours. If TM can help them, even when nothing else that has ever been tried works, we can imagine that it can help anybody.

The video below shows several more examples of just how powerful TM can be for those who are suffering from traumatic stress. It also shows why more and more scientists, educators, celebrities and governmental institutions are supporting the TM technique.

Stress disturbs the normal functioning of the brain, causing among other things, a decrease in the production of the “happiness hormone,” serotonin. A lack of serotonin influences not only our inner sense of happiness, but is also associated with migraines, sleep disorders, anxiety, anger outbursts, Alzheimer’s, eating disorders, addictions and many others. One can try to influence serotonin artificially (as antidepressants do), but this only treats the symptoms, not the real problem itself.

The experience of transcending on the other hand activates the body’s own healing ability, so that the brain can function normally. The result? An increase in serotonin production completely naturally during the TM practice, and eventually during the rest of the day.Ref. This has implications in all areas of life, as you can discover on this site.

Transcending not only has an effect on our health, our well-being, our self-esteem and our relationships, but it also influences our brain development, even in adults, whose brains are supposedly already fully developed. How can a simple experience effect the brain in a way that was considered impossible, (such as disappearance of ADHD, increase IQ and creativity in adults etc)? This requires a little more explanation.

But the effects themselves are clearly measurable, for example through EEG coherence.
